iPad cover roundup – the very best cases to protect your gadget from the kids!

You’ve made the investment, you’ve bought a beautiful sleek, shiny and slimline piece of modern technology – an Apple iPad to call your own. Well it is your own until your children discover it, whereupon it will need a whole new level of protection! Click through to discover some of our favourite kid-proof and kid-friendly iPad cases.
The Big Grips Frame hugs your KIDS IPAD 4 CASE snugly and even has a stand to rest in when children are playing at the table. Available in pink, blue, green and grey, the Big Grips Frame is designed for both iPad 2 and New iPad. It’s $75.90 with free delivery to Australia and New Zealand.
A word of warning – a reshipper or US-based friends will be required for the KaysCase KidBox iPad case, but there’s so many good reasons to try hard to get one. We love the inbuilt handle for carrying around the house and how it doubles as a stand when watching a movie. Priced US$34.95 from Amazon.
Otterbox is big on defending modern technology and the iPad is no exception. The Otterbox iPad Defender case has a brilliant three layer protection system with a foam core to absorb shock and resist scratches, while the textured outer provides extra grip for small hands. The Defender case fits iPad 2 and the New iPad, is available in six colours and priced US$89.95.
I’ve seen the M-Edge Supershell in action and have to say it looks impressive, giving the iPad extra bulk so it’s easy to hang on to and won’t accidentally slip from a lap. Designed to fit both iPad 2 and New iPad, the Supershell comes in fabulous kid-friendly colours of ocean blue, grape, bubblegum pink, and jungle green. The price is great too – just $39.95!
The textured Gumdrop case ($79.95) conforms to the shape of your iPad, providing a gripped outer with plenty of traction. Reinforced rubber bumpers on the corners add extra protection and prevent denting.
For novelty factor, we can’t go past the Spek iGuy! In rubbery Gumby-like fashion he stands up, lies down and you can hold his arms to hold him in your lap. iGuy is designed to fit all iPads (apart from the new mini) and will provide many giggles for sure! Available in grape, mango, lime and peacock and priced US$39.95.
If your kids are of the rough and tumble kind, I strongly suggest the Griffin Survivor iPad case. Just as the name suggests, it’s designed for surviving everything thrown at it – it’s military grade and built tough to withstand the elements. Priced US$79.99, there’s no denying it’s an expensive case, but absolutely worth splashing the cash – I can attest to its iPod version.
For real littlies, the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Apptivity Case provides a fun and safe casing for babies to muck about with during floor play. Available from leading retailers or online for $39 at Kmart.
